Liebster Awards!

After a university induced blogging absence I thought I’d get back into the swing of things with the Liebster Award post! I was nominated by the lovely Maddison from allurebymaddison.blogspot.com.au and the lovely Brodie from brodu-soup.blogspot.com.au. Both these ladies had great questions so I thought I would answer both sets in one go!

The rules for this tag are that you have to answer the 11 questions given to you by the person that nominated you, make up 11 questions of your own and nominate 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers.  Here goes!

Maddison’s Questions
1.   What advice would you give to a new blogger?
It’s for fun and shouldn’t be a chore. There are no rules about how often or what you have to post. I’ve been really busy with uni this month so I couldn’t post as much as I’d like, but that’s ok! Give yourself a break.

2.   What is your greatest achievement so far and why?
I’m pretty proud of myself for deciding to start this blog, I had thought about it for such a long time and am so glad I decided to go for it. Other than that I am happy with my results from uni too.

3.   Which blog/s do you follow religiously?
Essiebutton, Lily Pebbles, Viviannadoesmakeup, Sprinkleofglitter and so many more! You can see all the blogs I follow on Bloglovin I read them all !

4.   What is your favourite social media network?
I can be found wasting all of my time on Twitter and Instagram equally! If you’d like to follow me I am brontesauruslou on both J

5.   What is your dream job?
Anything to do with beauty but hopefully something to do with writing and communications.

6.   What is your favourite magazine?
I used to be obsessed with Glamour UK, then I read Vogue Australia religiously but now I pick up magazines every now and again, I thought it was a waste of money to keep subscribing when I didn’t have the time to read! I like Cleo too for a bit of light reading.

7.   What is one beauty/fashion trend you don't like and/or don't understand?
Mullet tops. You know the ones that are longer at the back and shorter at the front? For a while there I felt like everyone was wearing them. They look so unflattering!

8.   What are three words that best describe you?
I don’t know (bit of a cheat there)

9.   What is your secret guilty pleasure?
Salt and Vinegar chips. I cant help myself if there is a packet in the house I will eat them all!

10.   What and/or who inspired you to begin blogging?
The first blogger I ever discovered was Essiebutton, I think I watched every video she had made in a week! Then I discovered Viviannadoesmakeup, Lily Pebbles and the list goes on! From then on I’ve been obsessed with everything beauty and decided to have a go myself.

11.   If you could relive a day what would it be?
Probably my first date with my boyfriend, I didn’t realize it would be such an important day I would remember forever!

Brodie’s Questions

1. Where did the inspiration for your blog name come from?
Well my name is Bronte so I always had the nickname brontosaurus and my middle name is Louise and my family always called me Bronte Lou so I just combined the two and it was brontesauruslou

2. If you could have any one person in the entire worlds closet and all of it's contents whose would it be & why?
Alexa Chung. Girl’s got style!

3. What's your favourite mascara?
Covergirl Clumpcrusher. HG status.

4. Liquid or Pencil eye-liner?
I think liquid looks better but its such a hassle for everyday.

5. Where can you see yourself in 5 years time?
Hopefully in a job I enjoy or travelling the world. As long as I’m happy I don’t mind where I am!

6. What's your favourite childhood memory?
Christmas day at my grandparents house. Amazing weather and amazing food  with lots of laughs with all the people I loved most. It’s nice to have so many beautiful memories of my whole family spending time together.

7. Signature Scent?
Daisy by Marc Jacobs

8. What is your favourite cruelty free brand?
Australis for makeup and Sukin for skincare.

9. What is your ideal night-in?
Pasta for dinner, bit of a pamper and a face mask then a funny movie with the boyfriend in our pjs!

10. Who is your favourite beauty-guru of all time?
Essiebutton! She is so funny and doesn’t pretend that makeup is her whole life even though (obviously) she loves it.

11. What's your favourite drug-store and high-end brand?
I love Rimmel, Revlon and Maybelline and high end I would say Nars, YSL and Illamasqua.

Lip Look #1

For a date night not long ago I decided to try a new combo for a classic red lip look. I had heard so many good things about the Essence lip liners that I decided to try out the red shade Femme Fatale; since I have bought nearly every shade I was so impressed! The pencil was so buttery I used it to line and then to fill in my lips completely. Over the top I used Max Factor Giant Pen Stick in Designer Blossom for a touch of shine and to deepen the colour a tad. I loved how this lip look turned out and after dinner and dessert, while a little of the shine was gone, the bold pop was still going strong!

What do you think?
Do you go for a bold lip on a night out?

August Beauty Favourites

My August beauty favourites are a tiny bit later than I like my favourites to be, but here they are!

This month I was back at uni and keeping things simple. My favourites are basically the best bits of my daily face and the new beauty bits that have made the cut for my uni makeup. When it comes to in-a-hurry makeup this months favourites make me look and feel put together with minimal effort.

For my birthday in July I got the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers and I am firmly on the bandwagon now! These curlers deserve the hype they get and I love the way my eyes look more awake after I use them. If I ever forget to curl my lashes now I am disappointed by how my mascara looks!

Speaking of mascara, this year I found my Holy Grail, the Covergirl Clump Crusher. I am obsessed with this mascara, it lengthens and volumizes my lashes for everyday without having to spend 20 minutes getting rid of clumps and separating stuck together lashes! I haven’t found another mascara that is as fuss free and gives the same results. But as always I have a bunch I haven’t even tried yet so you never know.

I’ve spoke of my long term relationship with Rimmel Stay Matte Powder before and nothing has changed. I use this everyday, for a full face of makeup or just to set my undereye concealer (my concealer of choice is currently the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer but I’ve hit serious pan so I’m in the market for a new one. Any suggestions??). This powder is amazing; I will always have one in my collection.

I’ve rediscovered my Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss in Orchid to spice up my everyday face a bit. I am becoming a bit of a gloss convert and I like this one because its not too sticky and isn’t a magnet for my hair like some glosses I’ve tried in the past. Although it looks a bit lilac-y in the tube it comes out almost transparent on the lips with a pretty touch of shimmer. Beautiful by itself or over a lipstick or stain.

Finally, my new eyeshadow obsession, the Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal in Barely Branded. As a longtime lover of the Color Tattoos (what up Bad to the Bronze) I was excited to pickup some colours from the new metal collection. This is the perfect champagne shade to brighten the eye area, I use it in the inner corner, as a base or all over the lid. If you don’t have this you need it in your collection!

What were your favourites this month?
