July Beauty Favourites

July Beauty Favourites
Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Blush in Screen Siren, Revlon Color Stay Palette in Coffee Bean, Max Factor Colour Elixir Giant Pen Stick in Designer Blossom
Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer, Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant +, OPI Nail Envy

July was a really good month for me, not only because I got to celebrate my birthday, but also because I had a holiday and some time off from uni to relax and also to buy and try some new products. This month my stand out products have been some new friends and some old favourites.

First up is the Trilogy rosehip oil antioxidant +. This month has been a cold one in Melbourne and to combat the dehydration and dryness that comes with being in a heated room or out in the cold winds I have been using this oil nearly every night. I use it before bed after I cleanse and when I wake up in the morning my skin feels plump and healthy.

I love my OPI Nail Envy and have really noticed its effects this month. My nails have been really strong and been growing like crazy. This has been a lifesaver for my nails and I have already convinced a couple of my friends that they need it in their lives too!

My next favourite is a combination that I have been loving this month. I’ve already raved about the Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Blush in Screen Siren because I think it is a beautiful peachy shade that suits my fair skin tone really well. But I love this blush best when I apply it with the Real Techniques Blush Brush because it applies just enough product and makes it easy to build up the colour for an everyday or a more dramatic look.

I have rediscovered the Revlon ColorStay 12 Hour Eyeshadow palette in 02 Coffee Bean. Every shade in this palette is really wearable and I get use out of all of them, but most especially the third shade down which is a beautiful chocolate bronzy brown that looks amazing in the crease. So glad I found this old favourite again!

A new product to me that I have been really impressed with is the Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer. I don’t have a lot of experience with primers but I have really enjoyed using this and can definitely see the difference in my foundation when I use it. It gives such a flawless finish that I don’t know how I went without before.  I plan on dedicating a post to this Primer soon to give a better idea of how it performs.

Lastly I have been loving the Max Factor Colour Elixir Giant Pen Stick in Designer Blossom. The colour is a stunning red with a glossy finish. The wear on this pen stick (unimaginative name huh?) is amazing! It doesn’t bleed and it wears evenly leaving a lovely stain when the gloss disappears. This stayed glossy through eating and talking all day and still looked great.

So those were my July Beauty Favourites! I was lucky enough to get lots of beauty related presents for my birthday so I think my August Beauty Favourites will be pretty full!

What do you think of my favourites for the month?

NOTD #1

I thought I’d show you the combo I wore on my nails for the week of my birthday! I’m not usually a glitter girl but recently I’ve been thinking I might be becoming one. I used my usual base coat and applied two coats of Revlon’s 185 Lilac Pastelle followed by two generous coats of Maybelline’s Color Show Sequins in 825 Rose Bling. The Sequins collection of the Color Show range is new to Australia and I picked up this one and Sea-quins which reminded me more of a mermaid than a princess like Rose Bling does. The light pink, hot pink and silver glitter particles are big enough to give a lot of sparkle and you could wear this without a base colour. I don’t prefer a sheer look so I picked a pastel pinky lilac to be the base.

With two topcoats this combo wore extremely well, but I think one would have done I just like a smooth finish on my nails and glitter can feel a little scratchy. I rarely wear the same nail polish for more than three days in a row because I hate the way chips look and I wore this for 6 days with minimal chips. A plus of glitter polish is that the chips are a lot less noticeable than on a block colour. Taking it off was a bitch but I knew what I was getting myself into and I was really happy with the look and the wear of this combo. You win some you lose some!

I will definitely be wearing this polish combo again, I was really happy with how it came out.

What do you think?
Are you a fan of the glitter tipped look?
