Review: Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliners

L-R: (in natural light) Nude, Taupe, Bronze, Sparkling Black, Black

Let me say upfront, I am not much of an eyeliner person. Usually I forget, don’t have time or can’t be bothered to try and get my eyeliner exactly right. If I do use liner it is usually a long struggle with black liquid liner and some makeup remover soaked cotton buds. I am not really sure what drew me to the Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal liners (apart from a strange need to try everything that has hype around it), but I am really glad I got my hands on them. As you can see I play it safe with the neutral tones and the standard black but I think these shades can be used so many ways to make lots of different looks.

The kohl itself is buttery and smooth to apply and never pulls on the skin or settles more in some places than others. Because the kohl is so soft it can transfer over the eyelid a little but once it sets it is hard to budge, when they say 'long wear' they mean it. (The above swatches from my arm did not want to come off!) The key to what makes me love these liners is that they blend so well. The shade selection is not disappointing and caters to bright and neutral lovers. My most used is the Bronze shade, I often pair it with the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze, a great combination for the blue eyed. The Taupe shade is unlike any other liner colour I have seen; it works best for me when I use it for subtle definition along the lash line and is an understated alternative to black.  I use the Nude shade for water lining to brighten my eye area and it is soft enough to not irritate my eyes. The Black and the Sparkling Black would be great for a smoky eye or for tight lining to define the lash line.  The only flaw I can think of is that the kohl of my nude pencil did melt in the Australian summer! Apart from freak weather situations I would use the Scandaleyes liners any day and would like to try and be more adventurous with more shades.

Have you tried these?
How do you make liner work for everyday?
